In his new book, “The Stages Of Memory: Reflections On Memorial Art, Loss And The Spaces Between,” UMass Amherst professor James Young discussed the challenges facing those tasked with picking the final design for the 9-11 memorial in New York City.
Young, who was on the committee, said the aim was to build an enduring memorial.
